  • Upon learning joinery by hand for the first time, our class was assigned the task of creating a measuring device that had at least one joint in its structure. I chose to create a pendulum that would act as a timer. The time that it took for the weight to stop when initially released from its highest point measured exactly one minute. Moving the center wire bar up or down would respectively decrease or increase the amount of time the pendulum was in motion. My pieces are connected by hidden mortisse and tenon joints. This piece is constructed from pine, various types of wire, as well as a weighted metal ball.
