Calming Light Ensemble: Video Installation

This video installation is the final project to my design course at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). For the assignment, we were asked to create a video installation allowing for video projection and 3D mapping. A classmate, Sean Lin, and I collaborated to explore the elements of light and how it can interact with music to create a soothing and inspiring atmosphere. We projected a video using a combination of Processing (coding) and keynote onto a three-dimensional geometric shape.
The geometric form above was created to be placed on a white wall. Materials used in this project were thoroughly explored and evaluated to see the effects light can have on different surfaces. Sheets of crumpled aluminum foil were placed at specific faces in order to create a hypnotizing rippling affect which can be seen in the installations video and in the following images.
