TZ: SPLÍN MARKÝZY Z LAVERNE
Romantická výstava hrdinů mladého současného umění.
Kulisou výstavy s názvem Splín markýzy z Laverne je působivý původně barokní letohrádek v zahradě zámeckého areálu ve Valči v Západních Čechách. Tajuplné místo se na pár dní znovu promění v romantické sídlo jeho někdejší obyvatelky.
Výstava se točí kolem tajemstvím opředené markýzy z Laverne, později Marie Alžběty z Globenu a Limburg-Styrum, která za dob Marie Terezie obývala Valečské panství. Zámek jí však nikdy nepatřil. Markýza zámek spravovala v době nezletilosti své dcery Marie Josefy, právoplatné dědičky celého panství. Ta jej prodala jinému šlechtickému rodu hned poté, co se provdala.
“Můžeme si jen domýšlet, jak silné bylo pouto markýzy k místu, kde strávila většinu svého života, a jak neutěšená byla její touha po jeho vlastnictví. Bylpro ni Valečský zámek vysněným místem anebo vězením? Možná, že právě neobývaný letohrádek byl útočištěm, ve kterém mohla najít pro svou trýzněnou duši alespoň trochu klidu. Možná byl také jediným svědkem nevyslovených a neuskutečněných přání, splínů i potlačených radostí Markýzy z Laverne,” říkají kurátorky Eva Riebová a Tereza Špinková.
Výstava nabídne alternativní verzi historie. Po vzoru romantických letních sídel zrekonstruuje v prostorách letohrádku dobovou atmosféru za pomoci současného umění. Kurátorky pro výstavu vybíraly taková díla, která odpovídala jejich představě o romantismu v současném umění. A tak v portrétním sálu naleznete například ponuré olejomalby současných mladých malířů anebo večerní róbu absolventky pražské UMPRUM. Hudební salonek rozezní přímo pro výstavu zkomponovaná skladba a kabinet kuriozit vyzdobí čínská kaligrafická práce studenta konceptuální tvorby.
Doprovodný program v podobě komentovaných prohlídek fiktivní historií letohrádku, zpěvu markýzina alterega s tváří mladé operní pěvkyně či dobového fotoateliéru dotvoří silnou atmosféru jedinečného místa.

PRESS RELEASE: MELANCHOLY OF THE MARQUISE OF LAVERNE
This weekend, a romantic exhibition of young heroes of contemporary art will take place at the Povaleč festival. The exhibition entitled Melancholy of the Marquise of Laverne will be set up at the baroque summer pavilion in the gardens of the Valeč Chateau in Western Bohemia. For a few days, the mysterious site will transform into a romantic residence of its former inhabitant.
The exhibition will revolve around the Marquise of Laverne, later known as Maria Elisabeth of Globen and Limburg-Stirum, who lived on the Valeč estate in the times of Maria Theresa. The marquise however never owned the chateau. She oversaw the estate during the minority of her daughter Maria Josepha, the legitimate heiress of the entire manor. The latter sold it to another noble family soon after her marriage.
The curators Eva Riebová and Tereza Špinková write: ‘We can only imagine the strength of the bond that the Marquise of Laverne felt toward the romantic site where she spent most of her life, living with an unfulfilled desire to keep the chateau. Was the Valeč Chateau a dream place or rather like a prison to her? The unoccupied summer pavilion perhaps became her retreat in which her tormented soul could find a little peace. It was possibly also the only witness to the unspoken and unrealised wishes, melancholy and suppressed joy of the Marquise of Laverne.‘
The exhibition will offer an alternative version of history. Following the example of romantic summer residencies, it will evoke a period atmosphere using contemporary art. The curators selected such works, which correspond to their conception of romanticism in contemporary art. At the exhibition, you will thus be able to find a variety of works, ranging from gloomy oil paintings of young contemporary artists to an evening gown designed by a graduate of the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague. The music salon will resound with a musical composition created specifically for the installation and the curiosity cabinet will feature a Chinese calligraphic work by a conceptual art student.
