This was a two-part assignment. The first part was to choose a watercolor by an artist you admire and to copy that painting. The second part was to create your own painting "in the style of" your chosen artist. Class time was spent closely studying and practicing with the techniques, brushwork, layering, and colors of each artist.
Our goal was to 'decode' the methods, and pick up some techiques that could be incorporated into the students' own work.
