Passivhaus Design l Build Itasca State Park I Minnesota State Fair
The Design Build studio 2011 has researched, analyzed, designed, and built a beautiful, low-energy 4-person demonstration cabin that is planned to meet the Passive House performance criteria. The design also takes into consideration carbon implications and resource use analysis as a step towards achieving a sustainable future.
The structure was constructed at the Eco-Experience exhibit, Minnesota State Fair 2011 where it was exhibited for ten days and educated an estimated 300,000+ people about achieving very high levels of resource and energy efficiency on a mid-market budget. After the Fair, the structure will either be moved to a permanent location or dismantled and re-purposed for other uses.
