Inspired by the form of a stump, LUMI emits light through the contours of wooden grains texture engraved on it. The organic form brings it very close to nature making it a lot more versatile than regular seatings.
The avant-garde lighting emitting through the core of this seating creates beautiful and pleasant ambience. Parks, restaurants, theatres and walkways can be re scaped with the potent yet subtle quality of this lamp.
Designed as an outdoor seating, be a colony walkway or a garden, where this provides sufficient illumination to see around and rest when tired.
Fundamental basis for ideation was to incorporate light in furniture.
Created in Corian (DuPont) exploring every basic property like thermoformimg, differential lighting as per variable thickness, direction of strength, seamlessness etc. The surface pattern was first cut by CNC machine, thermoformed on mould, stuck using Corian glue, fixed with wooden seat by screwing with Corian members stuck on top and LED lighting attachment at the center, fixed via wooden seat.
Kept in dark allies or pathways of a park, this can serve both the purpose of lighting and seating when tired. This can even work as a lighted signage if used in some intitution with different engraved information.
