This project was done as a part of three month internship at Cubical laboratories. Cubical Home Automation solution is driven according to the requirement and convenience of the end user. The whole vision of the company revolves around constantly developing and evolving the products which contribute to energy saving and at the same time reduces human effort.

Their first solution came with a manifold of features like remote control of home from anywhere in the world, dimming & regulation, moods, scheduling of devices, security, surveillance & energy monitoring. My task was to understand all possible scenarios and design the best possible interface for seamless user experience leaving behind enough scope for further integration of future products which would bring-in the features like motion sensing, infrared blasters, temperature & humidity sensors, access control and so on.

I started with an extensive study of their product’s advantages and limitations to underline and understand all possible use cases. I then moved on to study the current Home Automation market and trends to forecast the upcoming technological advancements. It was followed by a thorough competitor analysis and user study (contextual enquiry, Feedback and market perception) to realize the limitations of current market and plan out the scope of improvement and ways to remove barriers for acceptability in the Indian market.

After several brainstorming sessions with the core Team and taking care of the multiple edge cases, I was finally able to develop the User Experience Flows, Wire-frames and the final interface which has already been rolled out in the market for current customers of Cubical Labs.
