Site Analysis

The first step of the Hilltop Theatre Project was this Site Analysis. The lighting was the most influential parameter on the site to the interactions on the site. The light is most dense at the center, and spreads outwards proportionally to the brightness of the source.
In this initial study, the light is represented in the way a drop would ripple in water. The light is dense in the center, and spreads outwards proportionally to the brightness of the source.
Here, the ripples are shown as spacial conditions.
The main focus of the site was the lighting density. The drawings on the left show which areas of the site had lighting by quantity. The drawing on the bottom left imagines this light as a dimensional occupant of the site, taking up physical space. The drawing on the top right shows where the light pools, acting as an attractor for additional light. The underlaying image is the final iteration of this site analysis, giving the light magnitude, associated with color. As you move thru the color spectrum, from violet to green to yellow to red, the magnitude of the light in that region increases.
Finally, I created a diagram that I used as a tool for analyzing the site, and preparing it for the theatre design.
