My final illustration assignment in university required me to create an environmental illustration featuring the Emerald City based on Gregory Maguire's novel, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. Athough the narrative in the novel was the basis of this illustration, we were essentially given free reign in terms of the style and execution; in saying that, I wanted to place emphasis on the juxtaposition between the slums and the wealthier areas within the city.

 

I have also included a process sequence outlining my process and the progression from the initial thumbnail to the final illustration.
