Temporary Practices Exhibition

My first assignment/exhibition for my minor paper Temporary Practices. The brief was to submit three A4 documents, one A3 screen print, and one A5 description of our work. The documents were to be conceptualised from "encountering a site".
My first A4 document is a thin clear box filled with gravel collected on Queen Street. Amongst the collected gravel is hair, cigarette butts, leaves, and rubbish.
This is made from an image on the wall, and a moving video projected on top. The image is of the Winter Gardens building at Auckland Domain - one I accidentally took which ended up blurry and glared with the sunlight streaming in. It was a perfect reflection of how I felt at the moment I took it - unprepared/unplanned (the trip to the domain was very spontaneous) and in a happy daze from such good unpredicted weather. The rolling image of the sky projected on top was taken weeks before on a rooftop garden, but it felt fitting to be placed over this daze-y image.
The Ant Danger/Keep it Clean document was initially a poster I had stuck to our flat kitchen wall. Of course, as flats are, the paper got splattered and dirty within days. I took my poster down, stole all my flatmate's condiments (if they are fine with them squirted all over the counter, having them all over my work won't be any different right?) and repeatedly photocopied and smeared sauce all over the photocopy, then photocopied that smeared photocopy, put sauce on that photocopy, and photocopied again... until the original image is illegible.
My screen print reads "how to be warm: step 1. place cloth in sun. step 2. rub on face."
