Juneau Alaska

Juneau AK is a great place to see. Between the high views of Juneau and Gastineau Channel from the top of the tram, to the Mendenhall glacier and taking a boat out to see the whales - it's quite amazing. Juneau is the kind of place you imagine to be so much bigger than it actually is.
My time in Juneau began with a trip to the Mendenhall glacier, my only regret was not having the time to actually hike out to and on the glacier. While there I also came across 3 black bears - a momma and her 2 cubs.
After exploring the area around Mendenhall, I took a boat out to do some whale watching. I admit I hoped to see a whale actually breaching but unfortunately the most action they were willing to display was bringing their tails out. It was a small pod of humpbacks, looked to be 3 or 4 whales. Overall they unfortunately wanted to spend more time under whater instead of above it.
On the way back in we happened upon this group of sealions on a boey, there were 6 of them laying there and a 7th that was feeling a little left out. Even though the 7th kept trying, he just wasn't having any luck. At one point he spoted the boat and thought be might give that a try.
Then after leaving the sealins to their lazy lounging we came across this bald eagle on overwatch duty. We got pretty close but it didn't bother the eagle one bit, he just sat there scanning the area.
After getting back to Juneau we decided to take a ride up the Goldbelt Mount Roberts Tramway and check out the views. I have a shot of the tramway at the top of this project, below are some of the views I saw while there.
I don't have any shots of it but decided to have a late lunch at the Timberline Bar & Grill. I have to mention it though because if you ever go by there trust me you have to try the crab nachos and fish tacos - it's a lot of food, so bring a friend to share it with, but you won't regret it.
