THEATRE OF ABSURD.

 

Jean Genet was French theatre director and writer who had unique satiric and tragic style. He liked to show dark side of our society. French criminal and social outcast turned writer who, as a novelist, transformed erotic and often obscene subject matter into a poetic vision of the universe and, as a dramatist, became a leading figure in the avant-garde theatre, especially in the Theatre of the Absurd. Jean Genet directed Parisian theatre that raised and criticized modern society drama of fake personalities and absurd control. It was challenging to choose particular style for brochure but biography of Jean Genet gave me idea itself. He worked in circus in his young days. It gave me idea of creating absurd circus posters that would represent director ideas.  Brochure should be interesting enough that theatre lovers could keep it and hang on the wall after show. Project was developed around the idea of absurd theatre that really pushed illustrative approach and created possibility for research. Each illustration represents play itself and show what will happen on the stage. Illustrations show the nature of the paly from criminal drama of kidnapers and one dead mistake up to philosophical debates about life in death in prison cell before execution.
