The name for this initiative is called Happy Healers. The above logo was hand illustrated and rendered using Illustrator and Photoshop.
Each child that gets admitted into the paediatrics ward will recieve two presents.
The first present will hold a series of packaging pieces to make the children laugh. Each box will vary so that children who share the same ward can swop and share their cards. The present includes brightness boxess, comedy cards and a get bettaaaaaaaa box.
The second box will hold hold various craft and artistic activities for the children to do, which was inspired by art therapy exercises. The box will contain hopeful hands and pegg my paper.
These are called Brightness Boxes. According to my research, A very important development in children is their self-esteem. This is a major component to success in their lives. Studies show that a positive self-concept or healthy self-esteem contributes to the happiness and success of children and teenagers.
They contain positive messages. It is important for their parents and people around them to show encouragement and positive affirmations.
Dr William F. Fry, a psychiatrist from Stanford University is considered the father of ‘gelotology’ (the science of laughter). He proved that mirthful laughter provides good exercise, decreases your chances of respiratory infections and laughing releases endorphins, which are natural painkillers. This inspired my next packaging piece called Comedy Cards.
This is my version of a get well soon card. It is based on the insight of docotrs asking you to say "aaaaahhhhhh" when they want to see the back of your throat.
The second present contains Hopeful Hands and Peg my Paper.
Hopeful Hands was inspired my art therapy techniques. How it works is that the child traces their left and right hand on a piece of paper. They then fill the left had with their past and their right hand with their future or who they want to be. This helps the children to understand and picture where they were and where they want to be.
The second piece in the present is called Peg my Paper. They are a series of characters, lanscapes, sea and sky. The children are able to put them together and create a land where they can play. Each box is different and contains different characters so children will be able to swap their pieces.
The second phase of my campaign is the redesign of the interior space, starting with the reception area. The theme for the reception area is; See The Sea. This idea is based on the significance of the colour blue. Research shows that the colour blue is welcoming and creates a sense of security. They are designed to create that friendly and  welcoming environment.

The second design is a sample of a room, each room will have a different design. I have mocked up an example of one design. Areas that I have designed are the walls, floors and curtains. My aim for the room interior is to create a fun and friendly environment for healing. The design on the wall behind the bed says that “You are my sunshine”.  The design is friendly and positive. The dominant colours are blue and yellow. The overall colour of the floor is yellow and it has the game Hopscotch designed into the floor. Hopscotch  is a popular game amoungst children. It can be played alone or with multiple players. One person tosses a stone and the next person has to hop to achieve it. This is an inexpexsive, interactive and fun activity for children. If the child does not feel well enough to participate, he/she can enjoy the design. I will be discussing the finishing materials later on.

Wall finishes: I have chosen Eco-friendly wall covering which tapeka. Tapeka is recycled material and is also recyclable.  It has a very low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC), which means that it is low in organic chemicals that have high vapor pressure. It has a Class A fire rating, which means that it has the lowest flame spread. It also has type II commercial rating.

All of my perspective drawings were illustrated by Nadia Nunes.
Floor finishes: The material that I have chosen for the floor finishes is Marley Vinyl Flooring (the names and colours are specified in the legend). The reason why I have chosen this material is because of its benefits. Firstly, it reduces noise, which will aid in the elimination of the background hospital sounds. It is also referred to as resilient flooring as it is slip-resistant and easy to clean.

Lighting and ceiling: The lights that I have chosen are Compact Flourescent and Suspended Ceiling Lights. These specific lights find the balance between the bright medical lights needed for thorough examination and natural comfortable lighting. They are also safer to install and have been approved by the Environmental and Safety Regulations.

Acoustic board will be applied to the ceiling. This will minimize the sound by absorbing it. This will decrease the daunting and somewhat scary sounds of the hospital.
Furniture: I have also supplied furniture reference to add to the welcoming and friendly environment (see floor plan for images). The products use Medium Density Fiber Board, which is easy to clean, hygienic and durable.
