Bespin is a fictional planet whose floating Cloud City is one of the major settings in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.  Han Solo pilots the Millennium Falcon there to seek refuge from his old friend and administrator of Cloud City, Lando Calrissian.  Unfortunately it’s a trap and Lando hands over Han to Darth Vader and the bounty hunter Boba Fett.

 

Bespin is the setting for the some of the film’s pivotal scenes including the freezing of Han Solo in carbonite and the famous and often quoted scene where Darth Vader tells Luke that he is his father.

The climactic duel over the city’s central air shaft sets up the third and final film in the trilogy.
