Alaska is a land of extremes. It spans 2261 miles (3,600 km) north to south and 1420 miles (2,300 km) east to west. The air temperatures during the winter ( on any given day ) can range from 500F on the north slope to 500F on the Ketchikan Peninsula. Some areas of the state receive no daylight during the winter and the sun never sets in the summer.....
