This was one of my first instances working with NASA mission directors to help propose viable critical components for missions. After discussing potential methods to overcome the extremely low gravity situation on the moon of Phobos (see my earlier "Phobos Mission Mobility Project") it was determined that further investigation on the use of harpoons (on the surface of the moon) was needed. The following project highlights some of the many iterations, test models, prototypes and experiments conducted to further our understanding of how to make use of harpoons on a future NASA Phobos mission.
