When it came to my creative Decision on the Abstracts
The work
I based my collection of abstracts on the simple thought 'it is not what we have in life, but who we have in life that is important'. I have chosen moments in my life that I have shared with people I am close to, and moments that are important to me. I chose styles to alter the images in a way that i found wold be eye-catching and interesting. I will now give a brief description of the personal meaning behind these images and how I reached the final product.
Abstract 1:
I have chosen this picture because it is random and it captures the friendship I have with this particular friend. I think it is funny how my friend used the camera to capture a simple yet humorous moment. The picture means a lot to me because I have a strong bond with this friend. I chose this picture because it is funny and I felt that it had potential for me to edit and make interesting. It was a creative decision to use bright colours on the edit enabling me to express the humorous happy aspect of this image.
Abstract 2:
I have chosen this picture because it captures a relationship between mother and daughter. I am close to these people and that is why I decided to choose this picture. I feel that this moment is joyful and precious, as they share a close bond.
Abstract 3:
The reason I have picked this photo because it was first photo I took in Digital Photography which I enjoy doing. I like taking photos and I got better at taking them in the long term after practicing using a camera.
Abstract 4:
I chose this photo because it is a funny moment which I captured so that I would be able to remember it. It is a picture of my little brother with ice-cream on his face. I also picked this photo because it reminds me of when I went to New Zealand with my family. I realise how lucky I am to have travelled there, and I was lucky to do so in the company of my family.
Abstract 5:
The reason I have chosen this photo is because it was the first night I arrived in New Zealand. I had not seen my brother in over two years and I realised at that moment that he had not changed at all. It was a very joyful and important moment in my life which I won't forget.
Abstract 6:
I have picked this photo because it reminds me of the visual communication I did during my time in college. It is a perfect example of how a random moment can be captured and create an excellent photo.
Abstract 7:
I have picked this photo because it was a moment which I shared with family. It was taken on the night of my 18th. It was a memorable night which I really enjoyed and this photo therefore means a lot to me
Abstract 8:
I have picked this photo because it was my first car that I got for my 18th birthday. It captures a moment in my life in which I was extremely happy and grateful.
Abstract 9:
I have picked this photo because my friend ask me to do a affect/manipulation with her photo. I feel that it is a joyful photo and that it captures a sense of personality.
Abstract 10:
I have chosen this photo because of its colours and shapes. I feel that the variety of shapes and contrasting colours are really interesting.
Steps taken to create the final abstracts
Steps for Abstract One
• I cut out myself (Niall) and my friend (Damien) by using quick selection and right clicking via cut.
• I used separate layers for both people- the first was Niall and the second layer was Damien.
• I use the refine edge on both myself and Damien to blend it in the photo and used smart radius on both layers.
• I created a gradient and filled it with a lot different colours such as pink, red, blue, green, navy and light blue.

Steps for Abstract Two
• I used the quick selection on the people in the photo and created a new layer called mother.
• I used the refine edge and set it to 10px with smart radius.
• I created a smart object on layer one.
• Then I used shadows and highlights in adjustments.
• I used the filter and set it to photocopy in the sketch folder I set it 24px detail and darkness to 50px.
• For the shadows and highlights are the shadow amount is 100px and the highlight is 10px.
• Then I set the mode in screen for the mother layer.

Steps for Abstract Three
The only step which I undertook to edit this image was use the adjustment black and white.

Steps for Abstract Four
• That copy the layer.
• I did a colour fill as my background.
• I used the quick selection tool on the subject.
• Then I used via copy the and named the layer Kevin when it was created.
• Next I refined the edge 10px with smart radius.
• I used a filter liquefy.
• Next I invert it on the mask layer.
• I went on the layer above then used the spatter brush with the black.
• I went to the liquefy layer then change the colour to black to the colour white. Then redo the mask layer on the liquefy layer.

Steps for Abstract Five
• I created a gradient fill of a 400 scale with reverse (red).
• I used a splat brush on a new layer I created.
• Then I used a photo which is a photo of my brother.
• I named the layer splat and created a clipping mask.
• Then I went to the blending options and clicked on drop shadows and inner shadows and them to 2px for the size and distance.

Steps for Abstract Six
• I used a soft brush set the colour blue, red and white.
• I created a layer group and name it energy.
• Then I used smudge tool in the centre of the white.
• After I set the brush to scatter and the space 871px.
• I created two layers with the first layer red and the second layer blue.
• After I used the filter called lens flare.
Steps for Abstract Seven
• I copied the background then I mask edge with smart edge with 5px.
• I copied the selection with a new layer called Barry.
• I used a colour fill with the colour white.
• Then I copy layer turn it black and white.
• I created a curves set the input of 194 and output of 255 curving the middle also.
• Then I coloured the mask on three separate layers with green, blue and red.

Steps for Abstract Eight

• I created a gradient fill with a lot different colours in the photo such as pink, red, blue, green, navy and light blue.

I adjusted the colour and changed it to black and white.

Steps for Abstract Ten
I used the marquee tool to create the photo. I used the squares and circles with this. I use and colour the photo with the colours red, yellow, green and brown.
