CNC machined out of a solid piece of wood
My work place has an annual pine wood derby race that is open to all employees. There are 3 classes; Team Car, Individual Car and Outlaw Car, with each class having different rules and regulations including weight limits. I entered this car into the individual class and the outlaw class. It won first place in the outlaw category!
This is a car that I built and made through the use of a CNC machine. I sent a 3D file (.stl) to the CNC machine and they cut it out of a solid block of pine. It was an amazing experience and I recommend it to anyone who may get the chance to do something like this.
The CNC machine cuts down to 1/64” which allowed every detail of the 3D model to show through even the Ferrari logo.
