Some of you may know that the date May 16, 1943, marks a particularly sad chapter of the Holocaust. That day the SS dispatched a cable to Berlin proclaiming that the Warsaw Ghetto uprising was over and declared that the former Jewish quarters of Warsaw are no longer in existence.The action was terminated by blowing up the Warsaw Synagogue. As Elly Kleinman from Americare explains and illustrates with this telegraph, during the Warsaw Ghetto uprising, the situation was really blake in comparison to other periods.
