The Superlative Spa Cover

The Superlative Spa cover is a creation through a group effort between myself and Brown’s BEO Captsone. As a group we set out to design a consumer product from military grade Twintex composite materials. The result, a revolutionary universal hot tub cover. By concealing the entire hot tub in an incredibly durable weather proof and insulated fiberglass enclosure we can eliminate the dangers of unauthorized use of commercial tubs. In addition to, cutting down energy cost by keeping cold air from making contact with any part of the tub.
This video highlights the last 2 CAD prototypes in action.
The heavy duty aluminum handles double as feet for the cover. The results allow it to rest perfectly parallel with the ground.
The construction is simple and long lasting. The blanks for each tub wall can simply be cut to the desired length at factory, before being fit to in-house built extruded aluminum bumpers on all 4 sides.
A 1/6th scale model of the final prototype was built. The final version uses a reversed cut on the sides. This allows the edges to all sit lower than the actual top of the tub. Thus not impeding users from sitting on the edges.
Here we see the evolution of the cover from first iterations to the last.
