L u m i n a r i G l a s s P a t t e r n D e s i g n

LUMINARI glass is a year to year renewing uniqe collection of glass interior products. The project is a collaboration between
the design studio S’39 and the glass manufacturer Rákosy Glass after many years of partnership. My responsibility was to create five pattern collection. The main task was to create a pattern which could be resized, combined and adjusted according to the environment. The name of the five pattern sets are Bild, Fang, Mokka, Sinus, Moiré.

B I L D

The inspiration to this family came from the system and repeatadness of a crystal, that natural repetition gives the base pattern for the tiles. This concept is gradually moving through the visual interpretation from order to disorder.

F A N G

A quadratic structure which is based on a uniform mesh, with shapes like musical notes that disrupts the system.

Thus reflecting to an elementary sheet music.

M O I R É

The pattern is based on a mash consisting of triangles, which is basicaly the core of the whole product family. The two dimensional space can be perfectly tiled with triangles thus a unified geometrical shape system can be created which becomes the base of the further structures. Three line system with different thickness is responsible for the visual interferece effect.

M O K K A

While producing this pattern I got the inspiration from an other culture, and that was the pattern of the classic arabian art.

The final product is a three pieced geometrical ornament, which repeat itself in a fractaly fashion to enable scaling up the size of the pattern.

SINUS

I created harmonic shapes which radiate calmness and causing a trans like mental state in the observer. To achive this effect I used the curling of the waves, these can be described by the sinus function, giving the name for the family.
