Reinventing the Greeting Card

For Concepts II, our class was asked to reinvent the average greeting card by creating two different types cards: one that is dark and satirical and another that is real and heartfelt.

Card on the left: satirical greeting card. Card on the right: heartfelt greeting card.

For the heartfelt greeting card I wanted to recreate the sympathy card.
With many sympathy cards I've seen in shops and boutiques, the messages often went along the lines of
"get better", "you'll get through this", or "sorry for your loss".

Having experienced several losses, I felt the need to create a card that wasn't telling the receiver what to do or how to feel but rather encouraging the receiver to allow themselves to feel pain, sorrow, and sadness.

For the satirical greeting card, I was interested in creating a congratulatory card that described the fate of parents- to- be in a playful way.

Thank you!
