Nepal Earthquake- A Visual Journey

Nepal has been a memorable and painful experience in my life. This was my first visit to this Himalayan nation when it was struck with an earthqauke. The amount of deaths and destruction all around was massive. The first day of my stay I have visited Bhaktapur, one of the most affected areas in Nepal. Bhaktapur has lost its charm and beauty.
The second tremors hit Nepal on the month of May,2015. The destruction took a new turn again. That day I was back at home though and had got the visual news and thus the representation. I hope Nepal stays safe and recovers soon enough.
The famous monuments in Nepal went down to rubbles after the twin quakes of 2015. Returning back from Nepal I heard about the second earthquake in the month of May,2015.  The memories are what remains now in the form of rubbles wherever they stood tall and high. The temples are destroyed and broken. Nepal has lost its rich architectures. Sitting back at home I gave ink to my memories.
Relief Camps are set up now nearby affected places. Nepal emerged with strength and courage . The people of Nepal joiined hands and helped in rebuilding their hopes which were shattered by the disaster. Nepal has a long journey towards betterment and they will rise up again.
I visited Nepal this year on 30th of April after the massive earthquake struck this Himalayan nation on April 26. Since this was my first visit to Nepal, I had trouble locating the affected areas. I am grateful that some of the locals and few of my friends guided and helped me to reach these places. During my stay, I have been to the places like Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Pathan Square, Sankhu and Kakoni. The buildings were reduced to rubble and there were dead bodies all around me.

Through my sketches , I want to capture the devastating phase that this nation has gone through. I hope to raise funds with these illustrations so that I can distribute them at the relief camps in Nepal. This project is on a long term basis and I will continue illustrating the situations in Nepal through my eyes till my memories don't fade away.
