Bare Conductive Music Box

An experimental workshop with the company Bare Conductive. The theme of the workshop  was sound and memory. I created an electro mechanical music box. I used paper cards, painted with Bare Conductive paint and wrapped them around a drum.  As the drum was turned, brush contact switches made from paperclips turned a buzzer on and off.
There was only one buzzer but each brush switch was connected to power via crocodile clips connected to a variable resistor made from a strip of Bare Conductive paint. Depending on where the clip associated with a particular switch was attached it changed the pitch of the buzzer for that switch. Thus depending on the pattern painted on the card and the position of the clips on the resistance strip one could create a vast array of different tunes.
