Throughout history, grey was often associated with the poor, for they could not afford to wear any color but the grey of undyed wool. By the 20th century, with the rise of the machine and the International Style, grey had become synonymous with modernity, industrialization, and mass culture. Grey represents conformity, emotional detachment, and the lack of character.

Grey is a brooch made out of carved duct tape and epoxy resin. It was an experiment to push the limit of the materials and to create a piece that evokes elegance and character, challenging the traditional associations of grey with boredom and conformity. The color and material are elevated through laborious handwork, craftsmanship, and a visual language reminiscent of Berlin Iron ornaments. Grey serves as the starting point of the Industrial Spectacles collection.
