Advertising for Romeo and Juliet (2013)

We were briefed to create series of posters for Shakespeare's Globe about the play 'Romeo and Juliet'.

Concept: "A pair of star-crossed lovers"

My solution for this project was a simple, minimalist design with strong, powerful emotions conveyed by the play.

The use of two different papers implies the grudge held by both families. Despite the differences, how they fit perfectly together as missing puzzles. Their love though ends in haste which I am trying to convey but the ripping of the papers. The black behind the coloured paper represents death, emptiness and void, where as far is we know life is headed.

The concept behind typography is to convey young, implusive, bold and wild nature of Romeo and Juliet and their love for each other.
