Ballet

Studio Art Concentration.

My concentration focuses on ballet and the amount of sacrifice that comes with this career.

In the beginning, I focus on the typical perspective of how people perceive ballet, and that is through a performance. As the pieces progress, the beauty and grace of ballet dancers are depicted. Eventually, we move backstage into the personal life of a single ballet dancer. We start to see that the life of a ballet dancer is not easy.

Many dancers forgo relationships, a social life, and a traditional education to pursue their passion. Near the end, the compositions become more symbolic, with bruises that show hardship or wilting flowers that signify a broken relationship. Finally, the final piece conveys the symbol of commitment, a pair of pointe shoes that defines every challenge a dancer went through in order to achieve the highest title of a ballet company: Principal Dancer.
