PROJECT 1 (Ball)

In this project, we can only use 1/8 thinkness wood sticks and white string to support a 1kg steel ball. The height has to be 15 inches from the ground. I made a form which looks like a lotus. When the steel ball is put in the middle, the force that is generated by the stick will be balanced by the ball.

PROJECT 2 (Move the Ball)

For this project, we need to use wood sticks and cordage to make a 1kg stell ball move a certain distance with one external force in the beginning.
PROJECT 3 (Contain)

Using wire as the only material, we need to make a container that can contain anything you want. I made a container for my hair. In China, parents would like to save their babies' hair when they got their first haircut. Those hair are made into brushes or stamps. I applied Chinese knot skills with wire to make this container.

PROJECT 4 (Gravity)

In this project, we need to use wire to build a structure that is related with gravity. I weaved this gold plane to suggest ocean. The general structure is to suggest buoyancy which is the opposite force of gravity.
PROJECT 5 (Hand, Body, Mind)

This is a 3-weeks project. In the first week, we need to use paper to make a thing that related with hands. In the second week, we need to use wood or/and paper to make a thing that can related with our body. In the third week, we need to apply an alternate material that can show our mind. All of these three weeks' works need to attach to one theme.

The theme I chose is being loved in childhood. I made a big hand in the first week to suggest my dad's hand, because I only hold my dad's thumb when I was very little. I made a hug machine in the second week. If you pull the first two strings, the structure can move and give you a hug. In the third week, I used gummy bear as the alternated materials. I poured melted gummy bears on bowl, plate, cup, chiosticks and spoon to cherish the memory of childhood.
