Experimental project: The question was whether to damp the table or not when you water the flowers. We had two solutions: First, there was a waterproof fabric from Marimekko which can easily solve the concern. Second, we hide a piece of solid watercolor paint between the bottom of plastic pot and the water-absorbing fabric. The fabric would be dyed randomly every time you watered, in which way you would get an unique dyed tablecloth.

I collected plenty of paper folding techniques to make the wrapping fabric showing a neat texture when it is wrapped and reaching enough diameter length when it is unwrapped as a tablecloth.
