New Muse is a creative project that captures the reflection of artwork and life of young New Orleans artists.
Gene'a is a creative from New Orleans that specializes in photography, painting, and fashion. We discussed our hometown, future creative plans, where we are now in life, and how that correlates to where we came from. The photography (below the dialogue) was based in an urban setting composed of grunge and unwarranted graffiti.
Gene’a: "Every painting that I’ve done is better than the last one. However long it takes until I’m content."
As an artist, it is imperative to constantly challenge yourself in order to grow. The level of an artist's ambition is detremental to the message that is being spread. And to constantly challenge yourself by setting new heights, exploring new strengths, and correcting old weaknesses, you allow your message to become clearer.
Me: "What do you like to do most?"
Gene’a: “Whatever I feel like doing, I’ll do it because I’ll die someday . So I may as well… I don’t have anything in particular that I like to shoot. Whatever calls my name…”
Me: "It’s what makes you different. Why would you wanna do something that everyone else is doing? Right?"
Over time, our creative processes may change and we grow as a person. Not only do we grow as a person, but our medium evolves. Skillful beginnings translate to new original work. It becomes a piece of you that is signature and ultimately, you. Creative growth is immeseaurable and as an artist, that mean there's always room for improvement. There is no limitation on timelessness.

Gene’a: "You're the same person. But you’re not the same person. But you look the same. But you don’t look the same. You know what I'm saying?"
Progress. Creating a better workload than the one that precedes it keeps her motivated. As artists, we feel compelled to creatively express ourselves so that we can show the world a bigger picture than itself. Sometimes those very ideas become a part of our identity and take us to new locations. If that means a lifetime of work towards a message that leads to greater possibility, we'll strive towards it. Watching an idea take form is good. Watching an ideal take form is even better. When a person is misunderstood, that leaves room for new introduction. This means that we can breed the same information in a different way that uniquely separates us from others and makes us fit in and stand out. An artist has no definite home because the one we create is always constantly evolving.
Gene’a: "You... What I remember you as and what you are is a good consolation. You’re still doing artsy things because we've always been artsy people. People like us are really misundesrstood. A lot of people hate on us because we’re so weird. There's no definite place for us."
