I chose to shoot in colour for this personal project, as I wanted to bring pictures to life, showing the vibrancy and life within them. Along with the composition of the photo, the colours within the photos help to bring focus to certain areas of the pictures. Such as the picture of the guy sitting amidst a mess of cardboard boxes in the background. Apart from the framing, the vibrancy of colours helps to pull the focus to the guy in the center, as there is a difference in the background and foreground, from neutral earth colours, to bright warm colours, such as red. Apart from that, the composition of the picture is in such a way that he is in the center, between the bright and vibrant colours, and the dull and cool colours, sort of being the middle point where the two extremes meet. As per the lighting, I chose to go with natural lighting, as the high key lighting of the sunlight casts a soft shadow, thus not losing details in the picture.

 

It was a different experience from the usual free and easy shooting of pictures, as I have to consider the various aspects of the picture, from the framing and positioning of the subject, to the arrangement of the background and foreground, such that the composition of the picture overall comes together. Initially, I was always losing patience in trying to detail the shot, such as arranging the surroundings, and took the shots quickly, thinking they were up to my standard. Overtime, I realised that the pictures were always losing that minor attention to details, such as an extra box in the frame, thus disrupting the focus to the main subject.
