During my third year at NSCAD, I had the chance to do an in-depth, semester long project about Georges Island, a small unassuming but heavily fortified island that sits right in the middle of Halifax harbour. Georges Island has an incredibly rich history and many interesting details (such as a network of underground tunnels); to showcase these features, I decided to create a scale model that would sit on the Halifax harbour boardwalk and would inform people all about the island. A mockup for the model was made completely by hand from foam core, balsa wood and high density foam.
