Bespoke Console Table

A bespoke design, manufactured by hand; I created this table to replace a boring CD/ DVD rack in the hallway of the client’s house with a more stylish and elegant console.

It was designed and made by myself using north american white oak and traditional construction methods. The table is wider at one end than the other as an attempt to open up the hallway and make it more inviting as people come through the front door.
The laminated supports add rigidity to the structure but are more visually interesting than a standard straight rail and make the table appear “light” and it also has a small drawer.

The aim was to create a table unlike any others that I found on the market and I believe that this has been achieved.
The finished product is striking and elegant in terms of aesthetics. It features an angled front, making it  wider at one end, and two laminated rails in the frame. Both of these make the table elegant and are recognisable design features which differentiates this table from others you’ve seen before.

The angled front also makes the hallway more inviting as the thinner end nearest the door makes an open space when you first walk through.

A lot of time and care went into the manufacture of this table. Traditional mortise and tenon construction was used in making the frame.

The end result is a well finished and highly crafted bespoke product which has a strong, solid and reliable construction.
