Crime Scene

[Formal]
       Crime scene is a stand-alone installation and involves the interaction between human and computer. The work is installed in a booth which seems like a scene of the homicide with multiple PCs. Basically, a tablet PC is connected to the program through main server and then the program begins the moment main sever recognizes a participant using web-cam. It allows the person to interact with the program without any particular action.
[Aesthetic]
        The participant can activate the program which time they enter the booth and observe displayed monitors which hide three clues. When the web-cam recognizes the participant, the program is activated. The work including the program and displayed monitors offers a game to the participant. There are three monitors which is displayed like a drawing, tea table, and a maze, however, using prepared tools the participant can see hidden clues. After looking them, the participant has to guess the place which is a key about this crime and input the name of the place into a tablet PC. If inputting the correct answer, the program will be finished showing an ending video, however, if not, it will require the correct answer with a warning message.
[Technical]
    Crime Scene captures the image of the participant using web-cam. It processes it with a RGB algorithm analyzing data of the person’s skin color in C++ program to activate the program in a main PC. Additionally, the tablet PC connected to a structured server with Apache web server shows a key word box in a web page which was designed by Namo web editor and PHP files. If participant enters a correct answer into the box, the screen shows an ending video. Other displays lare turned on LCD monitors without polarizing filter which seem to do not work, however, the participant can see hidden clues in monitors using prepared tools which have polarizing film.
[Context]
     Crime Scene is a participatory booth which has a storyline and game factors using multiple digital instruments. It can satisfy personal interest of participants and give them an opportunity to using new digital instruments. The work can be used in many ways using the platform of the booth. It can be an educational booth for children who visit museums and be a new way to attract many people who dislike to visit museums. This booth provides information of artifacts in museums with various media by stimulating sight, hearing and touch. In the same way, it can be a movie promotional booth in theaters by applying a movie storyline which is released lately and audiences can be interested in the movie.
