I wanted to try something in a new style, something a bit more graphical than I usually do, and based on a photo.

I started with this photo of my wonderful girlfriend Jess from www.jicsisjewellery.co.uk

I started layering up the picture, drawing by hand using a Wacom tablet and Photoshop, using six shades from black to white, and a splash of blue for the glases.

I continued this, adding in a few black and white 'ink' splots and splashes and a few emphasis lines.

Next I added in some light flares, then I merged in some photos: some clouds for a hazy look, and bits of Jess' two favourite animals - a fox, and an elephant's trunk. Can you spot them?
Lastly was a bit of colour tweaking.

I wanted a bit of extra space at the top of the picture, and then she was done!
