Formal
Parkable is a networked software application / program. This is a mobile project where you can always put in to action whenever you are within the range of Beacon. Also, the project should be connected to the internet since the database of the car numbers should be updated in real time. Parkable involves the interaction between human(visitors) and computer(smart phone) to show the available parking spaces to the visitors whenever it is needed.
Aesthetic
If the visitors have the application downloaded in their smart phone, they get a push alarm when they get in the range of Beacon. When they click the alarm, the software application is executed. Visitors can see the map of the parking lot so that they can see where the available parking spaces are. Also, if visitors write in their car number in the software, they can see the location that they have parked their car in the parking lot. So, the visitors observe the project because the application is operated whenever they are in range of Beacon and also they should activate the program to see their car location. The work enhances perception, visual perception, because the visitors can see the whole map of the parking lot. Also, it also tells the visitors the imformation of the parking spaces.
Technical
Parkable uses a Raspberry Pi camera to image capture the car numbers. Then, the car numbers are extracted through programming by Open cv and stored in the database. With the stored information in the database, the number data is transformed into visual data and is sent to the smart phone by Android programming. Also, Beacon is used to transmit information to the users. The project is displayed with the smart phone.
Context
Parkable is a software application designed for the car owners who have difficulty parking their car in the parking lot. Since there are so many cars and limited amount of spaces to park, people spend quite a lot of time and enegery on parking. For example, we had difficulty parking our car in the mart parking lot. Because it is a waste of time and energy, we thought this was a good motivation for us to develop Parkable. Also, by using this application, you will be able to save your fuel because you will no longer need to look around for the available spaces. Therefore, Parkable can be a little bit of an eco-friendly program.
