Rolling Copper Sphere

Three magnetized, interlocking tabs hold the sphere together.
The charging jack is located on the inside to recharge the lithium-ion battery.
The geared-down drive motor is housed in brass.
This shows the counterweight on an upward swing.
The whole mechanism is mounted to a base inside the sphere shell through snap connections. This allows for easy maintenance in the case of  hardware failures, which seem to always occur when you haven't planned for them.
The battery is housed in a copper box with a ring pinning the lid down. It can be easily replaced when it eventually fails from use or old age.
