Introduction
The Adventure of the Artist Chipmunk:
This project was completed for Foundation Studies: Design during the Spring semester of 2015. It was the second part of the assignment that required learning and using Maya, the second 3D modeling program I've used, the first being Rhino.
The chipmunk was modeled from cylinders and cylinder caps through extrution. The chair was modeled through a cylinder, and the canvas from other primitives.
The final render sequence at the bottome of this page tells the story of a chipmunk who falls asleep on his canvas, and slips into the world within his canvas. At this moment, it is revealed that the whole sequence too was within the world of another digital canvas.
I suppose in many respect the chipmunk resembles me in the process of creating this. Many times I have spent so much time and focus on the modeling that by the time I took a break, I would be worn out. Not only that, Maya continuously crashed on me because my laptop was not good enough to support too high of a usage. However, I am very glad I had the chance to learn Maya and look forward to future projects to improve and create better designs/characters/stories/concepts.
