Course objective:
Nature blends into our lives seamlessly and is also a rich source of inspiration. I generated a form inspired by nature, analysing the prominent/ indispensable attributes and assigning it a function that articulates it.
About the creature:
Seahorses like fish live in water, and their movement is vertically and bilaterally symmetrical. They sport a coronet, which is distinct for each individual.
Seahorse is a shy and passive creature, hence the attribute chosen is “Passive”, which is depicted through the form, its interface with the assumed exhibition space, contrasted by its interesting exo-skeleton and form.
The ‘form’ like the creature stays still, in a moving and active environment.
Form exploration:
The behaviour of the creature is passive, but on the surface it is very interesting, ie the body texture and the macro and micro forms made by the bony exo-skeleton.
In the final form, for the observer, the eye motion changes from a very busy form at the base, which becomes minimalistic at the top.
The model was then fine-tuned using other physical attributes, constraints, in terms of scale as Sea horse is a small creature and I chose to keep it close to the original size
Form function:
Spa is a place where people go for relaxation, rejuvination and to experience tranquility & calmness.
This form can not only be used just to provide ambience and lighting in the space, it can also be used as a brand identity or an installation to do branding on it.
