AGRICULTURAL BUILDING IN FLORENCE (TUSCANY, ITALY)

AGRICULTURAL BUILDING IN FLORENCE (TUSCANY, ITALY)
Final project,  August 2011.
It is a communication, culture and education centre; a space to join and stimulate the scientific researches on topics related to the food and home cultivate.
The project is located in the vicinity of the Arno river. On the left bank there is consolidated urban tissue and on the right bank an outlying expansion filter, the Cascine park.
Main problems:
 - Outlying location + disconnection with the rest of the city.
 - Degraded environmental conditions.
 - Lack of services.
Because of all these realities it has been considered as an atrophied member ideal to REVITALIZE and at the same time to allow a greater INTEGRATION with the rest of the city, improving simultaneously the NATURE of the RIVER banks.
The main idea has been to set the ground floor free to create a "park or agricultural route" and to make the construction of the building as simple as possible, supported the minimal by the land to allow the maximum space to the fields, attaching importance to the greenhouse structure that is the one which is going to support the weight of the whole built program.
