Gestalt Psychology: An Exploration Through Insects

The following images are done through Photoshop in order to experiment with Gestalt psychology. Here, I chose to work with a series of insects to portray four popular principles known as reification, emergence, multistability, and invariance.
Invariance: is the property of perception whereby simple geometrical objects are recognized independent of rotation, translation, and scale; as well as several other variations such as elastic deformations, different lighting, and different component features. (Wikipedia)
Multistability: is the tendency of ambiguous perceptual experiences to pop back and forth unstably between two or more alternative interpretations. (Wikipedia)
Emergence: a process whereby larger entities, patterns, and regularities arise through interactions among smaller or simpler entities that themselves do not exhibit such properties. (Wikipedia)
Reification: the constructive or generative aspect of perception, by which the experienced percept contains more explicit spatial information than the sensory stimulus on which it is based. (Wikipedia)
