Tensile Canopies for the Green House Cafe

The Green House Cafe was intially made in the courtyard of The House MG, a popular heritage hotel in Ahmedabad. A structure made out of metal beams with asbestos covering it, served as its roof.
Canopies were designed to give it the feel of street cafes.
Canopies were tailor made to fit the existing overlying structure playing with the elasticity of the fabric.
Each canopy was secured on all sides to provide equal force on the canopy, allowing it to form a plane as per the grid.
The canopies were back lit to diffuse the lighting the cafe, giving a cozy feel to the space.
