In 2013 I started experimenting with 3D printing. This is my first try at jewelry design; nine individual pieces I built in Lightwave that were eventually printed at Shapeways.
Their metal prints, at least in 2013, are a little lower resolution than their regular plastic prints, but the rougness worked pretty well for the style of these peices. Another option is a very high-res wax print that can then be cast in silver, as seen below.
Since this project, I've printed and cast lots of things; my wife's engagement and wedding rings, lighting attachements, and video accesories. I think silver may actually be one of the easiest metals to cast, but now that I have my own 3D printer, I'm still experimenting.
