Part 1 Make A Plan
At the beginning, we just want to form a band, or , act like a band. But not the normal one because we don’t need real guitar, real drum, all we have to do is create some instrument that can have certain function to take place of normal ones. Then we talked a lot and draw some sketches to find out the solution.
There are four part of the whole performance using four style of sound: peaceful, happy, rock and serenity. It represents the changes of mood when you start a journey, and also like the title I came up for each part of process: Make a Plan, Hit the Road, Rush and Finally Made It.
Then each of us share out the work and design our own instrument. I chose to make the beat of the whole music.

Part 2 Hit the Road
Since my instrument is not a drum, then it shouldn’t sound like a drum, so I try to make some beat use other sound, like bell, piano, clap and water drop. sometime you may not notice it is beat, but it can give my teammates a hint of when to play.
And then based on the instrument we designed, we chose the same material to make sure they are of same style.
Part 3 Rush!
Use woodshop to cut and drill hole of the material. To make the element of my instrument keep the same style, easy to operate as well as looks ‘cool’, I use cubic wood as button switch and rotary knob.
And then soldered the components and protoboard together. Make sure thewires is long enough and soldering is solid durable.
Use Pure Data(PD) to control arduino. For the patch, since there are only four buttons and six rotary knobs I can control, I need to make the use of each rotary knob to the fullest. So I combine the four part of patches together and try to make each rotary knob work in every part and not interfere when one part is done.
Then I made a simple interface of final patch to make control stuff much more easier.
