This animaiton project is inspired by tradiotional Chinese Shadow Play, which is performed with leather-made puppets and surroundings.
The figure style is also borrowed from Chinese Paper-cutting art.
Different from my previous animaitons, this piece will introduce colors other than just balck and white into it. In order to maintain a traditioanal feeling style, I use only five colors that are stantardly applied in traditional Chinese Ink-paitings, yellow, red , cyan, black and white.
I tried to keep the contours as rigid as possible in order to create a puppet-feeling.
Uncolored figure and Colored figure.
Strengthening the oppacity makes it look more like leather puppets. Detached arms and legs.
Clouds --- borrowed from trditioanl Chinese clouding decorative pattern.
In addition with some manga/comic style.
Darkened background --- simiulating the Leather Play environment.
Here are some examples of coloring and image style.
The image of the sun refers the earliest Chinese hieroglyphic character "sun".
