This is a commercial free-standing sidetable design during my internship in hellman-chang NYC.
The design aimed to bring out the beauty of materials throughout a delicate combination of walnut and a tasteful amount of brass, that the slim brass strip goes around the table emphasizing the center line, giving the object the personality of nobility and elitists. The slight thickness difference of each solid plane perfectly balances the unique proportion.
I designed this C shape based on the brand's existing production vocabulary which was simple and elegant, and multiple iterations came after the first one to meet various functional need.
