I staged an informal tasting of food and wine paired with mobile tables. The objects were equipped with sensors to detect engagement and move when “bored.” This was done in response to a specific social blunder - lack of engagement or interest or motivation in conversing. The object’s role was to make social stagnation noticeable, not blatant but perceivable. They were cute enough to work and inched away when people around were not engaged. At best, the table was able to part circles and be welcomed like a puppy.
