Project: Look Out Point - ARC313 Winter 2015

Design Project: Look-out Point
This deisgn project seeks to capture a partiular view of the city. Students are asked to situate and design a look-out point. This small intervention can float on water, rise above the tree canopy or rest firmly on the ground. It can be designed to accommodate one visitor or a small groupd of up to 10 people maximum.

Site Introduction: Toronto Islands
The Toronto Islands are a chain of small islands in the city of Toronto. The islands are located offshore from hte city centre and provide shelter to the harbor. They consist of a small car-free residential community, he Billy Bishop City Airport, and several popular recreational facilities. The Toronto Islands also offer visitors a unique view of Toronto and its waterfront.

Statement:
The design seeks a method that casts minial intervention on the site. It is situated on Snake Island, a small island that is covered with trees and bushes with a small area of beach at the front. By a repetitve and overlapping design process, the design offers spatial exploration over the shore of the island and captures scenic viewpoints that were previously unachieveable on the site.
