Neebo Buyback/Early Bird Envelope/Discount Card

With this project, the presented problem was that during our buyback period, we would hand out flyers to remind students to preorder their textbooks for the next term and offer up a discount if they ordered early. The redemption rate on the flyers was abysmal.

I approached the project looking for a delivery method for our messaging that would actually be seen/read by the student. I opted for a 'cash envelope' as previously, we were just handing the students back their cash when they'd sell us back their books. The envelope then made the buyback process seem a little more 'official' and offered up a visually appealing message that the student would be engaged to read. The use of a card to punch out let them stick it in their wallet and hopefully remind them to preorder their textbooks. In working with the merchandising team to offer a deep discount on an item that is a popular item but rarely is discounted, the goal was to incent them to keep the card and get them back into the store. With this method, we saw a significant rise in redemptions and pre-orders.
