Cube Project
This project began with six 3"x3" cubes that explored the transition from completely closed to completely open. I began with a series of weaved cubes that progressively lost strands which led to a simple four strand cube. Once this was completed we were to enlarge these little cubes into a 6"x6" cube through a combination process. After a series of iterations I had my final cube design which focused more on the material that was not there than the material that was. The beauty came from the empty spaces which allowed your eye to travel and explore. The final iteration was created from Aluminum and dowel pins. After many hours of milling, drilling, and pressing I finally had my cube.
